Long Wongs 9 @ Johnny V's 6
Solid pitching from Tom Mortenson and Josh Sopczek led Long Wongs by the 2004 MBL playoff runner-up. A strong defense also helped deflate several Johnny V's scoring threats. In the second inning Mike Fuss started a double play on a great grab of a sharply hit ball down the third base line. In the fifth, Mortenson threw out a runner at third base from the left field warning track. Kirk Spano played an errorless second base with four putouts and five assists, while contributing two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Part-time Long Wonger John Germanotta swatted three hits including a double to drive in a run in the second inning. Dan Yesbeck had two RBI on the day, one on a towering home run in the sixth. Also getting hits in a balanced attack were Brian Jaeger, Dan Scherrer and Eric Phillips.
O'Briens 5 v Blue Jays 4
Jim Vielbaum pitched 5.1 innings striking out eight to get the win. Dan Wilfrath recorded five straight outs to close the game and save it for O'Briens. Chris Sanders had three hits to pace the offense.
Colonel Hart's 11 v
Franklin Barber Plumbing 5
A mult-hit day by Kurt Kappeler drove in several runs to lead the offense for Colonel Hart's. Supberb pitching by Rob Schmidt and Derek Vaughn maintained the lead throughout the game.
Pilots 5 v Royals 4
Pilots pitcher Rick Szymanski pitched a complete game with 9 stikeouts to get the victory. The game was close throughout, with both teams playing solid baseball, but the Pilots prevailed in the bottom of the seventh on Dave Barth's bloop RBI single driving in Scott Beringer. At the plate Beringer led the Pilots attack with 4 hits.
Milwaukee PD 10 v McGinn's 6
The MPD squad rolled to victory for the second consecutive week on the strength of their hitting. Jeff Lazewski went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI and Jeff Burch was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI to pace Milwaukee's finest.
