1. Players must have a jersey, even if they have to borrow one from a bench player. After the 4th of July break, players won't be allowed to play without a uniform.
2. Playoff rosters are due before your games this weekend.
3. Remember, as decided by the managers pre-season, to be playoff eligible, a player must be on the roster by this weekend's games (regardless of rain or play, on by the scheduled game time) and have a combination of innings pitched and plate appearances at least equal to the number of games a team plays. Exceptions only for injured players who met the requirement last year and are coming back late this year.
4. In the event of a play at the plate, if the ball and runner arrive at about the same time and there is a collision, there is no rules infraction. If the ball arrives before the runner and the runner has time to slide, he should slide, avoid a full impact collision (i.e. try to avoid being tagged or going to the side of the catcher) or give himself up at the plate. Runners are not to create a collision for the purpose of jarring the ball loose. Umpires will use their best discretion interpretting this type of play and as a judgement call should not be argued, similar to balls and strikes. Correspondingly, since we are protecting catchers, and runners, from injury with this rule, a catcher who blocks the plate without the ball is interfering with the runner and is subject to the appropriate ruling of interference, and possible ejection, if the catcher is deemed to have made deliberate or negligent contact with a runner.
