Games of July 16 & 17

O'Brien's 9 v Long Wongs 5
O'Brien's came back from a 4-2 deficit scoring seven runs in the final inning. Keith Olsen hit a bases loaded double and Dan Wilfrath added a two run homerun as O'Briens rallied back for the victory. Wilfrath also had another solid pitching performance striking out nine to get the win.

Supreme Builders 20 v Johnny V's 19
With the wind blowing out toward the short left field fence and the infield as hard and fast as concrete, the conditions were perfect for a slugfest at Wisconsin Avenue Park. When the dust finally settled, Supreme Builders beat Johnny V's on Dan Rischmann's walk-off Grand Slam. The game featured 40 hits and 6 home runs. Eric Belter also homered for the Builders. Johnny V's got homers from Kleczynski, Radtke, E. Lubarsky and T. Lubarsky. The Builders winning 5 run rally in the bottom of the seventh came after Johnny V's had scored 8 runs in the top of the 7th to take a four run lead.

McGinns 18 v Supreme Builders 4
McGinn's offense busted out for 10 runs in the first enroute to a decisive win .

Kasper's 18 v Blue Jays 4
Kasper's regrouped and erupted after some tough losses.

Barber Plumbing 5 v Pilots 2
Franklin Barber Plumbing damaged the Pilots playoffs hopes with the close victory.

Royals 13 v Colonel Hart's 12
&
Royals 16 v MPD 10

The Royals came through for 29 combined runs in getting a rare split-doubleheader sweep, beating both Colonel Hart's and the Milwaukee Police Department. The Royals have now won three of their last four after starting the season with an eight-game losing streak.

Against Hart's, the Royals fought back after falling down 6-0 in the first and trailing the entire game. With Hart's ahead in the fifth and the time limit passed, the homestanding Royals came through. A key hit by Scott Rappl tied the game at 12 before walks by Mike Fucile and Dan Pfeifer sent Rappl to third. After a Hart's pitching change, the first offering sailed wide of the catcher's mitt, getting to the backstop and allowing Rappl to score to end the game. The walk-off passed ball gave Jesse Roschyk his first win of the season, while Kyle Birchbauer finished the day 3-for-4 with three RBI and Pfeifer went 2-for-2 with a double and four RBI.

In the Police contest, the Blue Angels' airshow flyovers may have provided the jets, but it was the Royals' offense that had the rockets and bombs. Down 6-5, the Royals exploded for four runs in the fifth and seven in the sixth to round out their afternoon of heavy hitting. Every Royals' player had a hit and scored, including Fucile, who ended his year-long hitless streak with a line-drive RBI double down the third base line. Birchbauer showed tremendous mental toughness to get the complete-game victory, his first of the year.
