Friday under the lights against the playoff hopeful Indians, Long Wongs put it all together to come away with the 9-1 win. Greg Ketz in only his third appearance since rejoining the team after injury pitched five solid innings allowing only one run. He was supported with stellar defense by Chris Adamski who assisted on two difficult plays at shortstop ending the third and fifth innings, catcher Bruce Smeby who threw out another would be basestealer at second, Ryan Estes who made a charging play and throw at third to end the fourth and Tom Mortonson who gunned down a runner at the plate trying to score from second on a hit to center. Long Wongs offense started fast scoring three runs in the first, keyed by Mortonson's double. Indians starter Dan Troyer kept his mates in the game however shutting out Long Wongs from the second to fifth, keeping the game close at 3 to 1. In the sixth inning, Long Wongs pinch hitter Paul Sinklair and Adamski reached base with two outs. Kirk Spano followed with a hit to right center to drive in a run which was followed by Tom Mortonson's run scoring single. Joe Brand walked loading the bases for Adam Graves. Graves promptly lit the fuse on a 1-1 pitch and hit a towering bomb through a gusting wind into the trees beyond the left center field power ally for the grandslam, effectively securing Long Wongs' 10th victory of the season.

Varsity Club secured a playoff spot by defeating Open Division Champs O'Brien's. Varsity Club will be hosted by Club Paragon at Harden Field, Saturday August 11th at 5:30pm in round one of the division playoffs.

Club Paragon completed their three game season sweep of Open Division powerhouses by winning another Friday match-up.

Long Wongs 10 Colonel Hart's 2
Long Wongs finished the regular season on a strong note beating a short handed Colonel Hart's team 10-2. Joe Brand controlled the game from the mound for Wongs, allowing no earned runs in the complete game victory. The offense was led by Aaron Krueger's 3 of 4 day with two runs and an RBI, Brand's 2 of 3 with a double and Brian Jaeger's 2 of 3 day with a walk, double, run scored and two RBI. Long Wongs finished the season 11-6 and hosts Johnny V's in a playoff match Saturday August 11 at Zirkel Field.

Franklin's win secured the National Division title.

Supreme Builders 5 Club Paragon / Milw Sporting Goods 4
Solid Pitching and timely hitting helped the Builders come from behind to defeat Club Paragon in 8 innings. Paragon scored two in the first and one in the second to take an early 3-0 lead. However, in the bottom of the third Supreme added two runs to narrow the margin 3-2. Paragon's Kurt Kappeler added an insurance run with a sac fly in the top of the seventh to extend the lead to two runs. The Builders then rallied in the bottom of the inning to score 2 runs and send the game into exta frames. With bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the eighth, Sean Carolan won the game by hitting a sharp single to left field. Starter Ryan Olson threw four solid innings for the Builders giving up zero earned runs. Brian Rennicke followed Olson to earn the win scatering 3 hits over four innings, allowing one run. Builders bats were led by Colin Moser (2-2) and Sean Carolan (2-3). Club Paragon's offense was led by Mike Jeacic and Sean Finnegan both going 2-4.

Vacations took their toll on pitching staffs, and, hot and dry weather lended itself to hard fields leading to huge offensive days in the Milwaukee Baseball League.

In the first game of a high scoring doubleheader, Long Wongs broker their losing streak with a win over perennial power Johnny Vs. The middle of Long Wongs order of Tom Mortonson (5-5), Joe Brand (3-5), Adam Graves (3-5, GWBI) and Ryan Estes (3-5, HR) led the Long Wongs attack. Dan Marx got on base three times by walk and once hit by pitch, and Paul Lennart went 3 of 4 with a walk to spark Johnny Vs offense.

Johnny V's overcame a 10-1 deficit to win 13-10 in game 2 of the doubleheader. Steve Murphy pitched 4 solid innings in relief to gain the win. Dan Marx and Tony Lubarsky each had 3 hits while Mike Gramarossa drove in 3 runs. Chris Adamski had 4 hits for Long Wong's

Club Paragon / Milwaukee Sporting Goods 18 PJ's Royals 12
The game stayed close until the sixth, when a huge inning by the Phillies gave them a lead that they didn't lose. Highlights included a two-hit game by Mike Grabek and Kail Decker, a three hit game by Tom Gaszak, and a two run homer by Steve Laabs. This was overshadowed by the overall performance by Mike Jalecic. He threw 5 1/3 innings of great relief, while helping his cause with two triples, a single, a stolen base and three runs scored.
